Today’s show is with Zendeh a mobile theatre company in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Focusing in a unique and thoughtful way on the cultural eclecticism of diasporas, Zendeh is run by Nazli Tabatabai-Khatambakhsh.
Their forthcoming production FLOCK is set in Iran 1921, taken loosely from the enduring Sufi poem The Conference of the Birds by Farid Attar.
Two brothers and their sister in the midst
of life-changing social and political upheaval, are brought together at their Mother’s deathbed. Her last wish is that they go in search of their long lost father. They bravely take up this task, their guide across Iran being a kind and mysterious stranger.
Previous Zendeh productions include Arabian Nights, Khaki, Silk and Waiting Room.
NB – this show will not repeat the following Sunday at 20.30, due to a station programming special.
