On this week’s Six Pillars show we listened to a recent digital compilation release from Iran, on Bitrot a label based in Tehran run by artists. Kollektive 1, features international yet mainly Iranian producers and musicians and is available on Bandcamp the download includes high-quality MP3, FLAC and more.
A young label with four releases so far under their belt the mission statements includes this quote:
Our focus is not on any particular style of music, but we do have an aesthetic based on experimentalism.
About Kollektive 1, the inference is that there will be a 2, perhaps a 3:
“We hope to bring out a common thread among tracks and artists we choose. Sometimes we will give artists a concept to work on. Sometimes, like the first Kollektive, we make it our own task to find it. Although tracks might be from varying styles of experimental electronic music and countries, we think no matter what style or which country the artists may come from, they share some common characteristics. This gives the global underground scene of the experimental electronic music, a sense of a tight community even though it`s spread miles apart physically. “
Musicians on Kollektive 1 hail from Iran, Mexico, Ukraine, Greece, France, Russia, Netherlands, USA, UK and Canada. They are: Kryshe, Heinali, Tegh, dev, Legiac, sodiufas, Tapage, LINEAR BELLS, DR, Shaahin Saba Dipole, Mez’Rab, arbee, Pouya Ehsaei, Sote, raincheck, Parsa Shomali, Alphaxone, Umchunga, eatingchildren, José Soberanes, Zenjungle, Unland, Cameron Shafii, dbetunedr, Kate Carr, No Ordinary Eye, Darren Harper
